my new favorite tailgate accessory

It is the gathering of our friends who share a love for the same team. It is the dressing in our alma mater colors of maroon and gold to show our school pride. It is the excitement of hearing the marching band play the fight song for the very first time every season. It is the thrill of creating a special menu for every game based on that week’s theme. It is the pop of champagne and the first sips of a morning mimosa after unpacking the car. This is why Nate and I don’t just like tailgating, we love it. It gives us inspiration to be a little more creative in the kitchen, a little more seasonal with our spices and a little more stuffed on Saturdays and Sundays.

This year, I have another reason to especially look forward to tailgating and I can’t wait to share it with all of you. A few weeks ago, Nate surprised me with a Pyrex casserole dish for my birthday. At first, I thought it was just an ordinary baking dish until I noticed that he had the words “GAMEDAY TESSIPE” with the Boston College Athletics logo etched onto the bottom and the words “GO EAGLES!” etched onto the side. “Now you can make a new Tessipe in this dish every week!” he said. A smile spread on my face and I immediately began to think about what I should make in it first. A classic Tessipe? An oldie-but-goodie crowd pleaser? A new Tessipe? The possibilities are endless.

This is one of the most clever gifts I have ever received and is the perfect addition to our tailgates. Like me, I bet there are many of you that know a football-loving, tailgate-hosting family member or friend that would love receiving this as a their next gift. The Etsy shop where Nate bought mine usually uses the words “GAMEDAY KICKASSEROLE” (excuse my language), but upon request, they were able to customize it with “GAMEDAY TESSIPE”. Whether you’re a Patriots, Giants, or Cowboys fan, you can even put whichever team’s logo you want on it to start cooking away.

Now the real question: what should I make in mine first?
